Stephen van Coller
Chief Executive Officer
Stephen was appointed Chief Executive of Absa Capital, with local responsibility in South Africa for Absa Wealth, on 1 October 2009. Prior to his appointment to Chief Executive, Stephen was Deputy CEO and Head of Investment Banking which included Global Finance and Risk Solutions, Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate Coverage. Stephen first joined Absa Capital in September 2006 as Head of Primary Markets. He is a member of the Absa Group Executive Committee and the Absa Group Tax Committee.
Natasha Andrykowsky
Front Office Chief Operating Officer
Natasha Andrykowsky is the Front Office Chief Operating Officer of Absa Capital and a member of the Executive Committee. She joined Absa Capital in 2006, initially to run the Office of the CEO, as part of Strategy and Planning and later in the role of the Business Manager for Trading. Prior to joining investment banking she was with the Monitor Group, a global strategy consulting firm where she worked with global clients in South Africa, as well as London, Sao Paolo, Moscow and Hamburg.
Andrew Dickens
Head of Markets
Andrew was appointed as Head of Markets in March 2010. As a member of Absa Capital's Executive Committee, he chairs the Markets Management Committee which is responsible for all aspects of the Sales, Research and Trading activities that take place in the Markets division. These activities include sales coverage of corporate and institutional clients, pricing and execution of client transactions, trading and risk management of related market risks as well as delivery of research products to clients. Prior to this Andrew was Head of Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange Trading until November 2008, and from that date, Head of Trading at Absa Capital.
John Gachora
Head of Africa
John joined Absa Capital in January 2009. Prior to Absa Capital, John was at Bank of America where he was a Managing Director and Head of Structuring within Structured Products. John started his career in investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. Originally from Kenya, John studied Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and obtained his MBA from the Wharton School of Business. As Head of Africa, John is responsible for Absa Capital's sub-Saharan Africa related business.
Richard Hallett
Chief Financial Officer
Richard joined Absa Capital in June 2009 as Head of Finance and Operations responsible for Finance, Capital Management and Regulatory Reporting, Operations, Product Control (Primary and Secondary Markets); Change Management; and Absa Capital Investor Services Operations. Prior to joining Absa Capital Richard was with the Royal Bank of Scotland, Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse.
Ian Kriegler
Chief Information Officer
Ian joined Absa Capital in January 2007 as Head of Information Technology. Ian has responsibility for Infrastructure Management within Absa Capital and Absa Wealth covering all aspects of the technology platforms as well as the Corporate Real Estate portfolio and Security. He has over 20 years of IT management experience in the financial services sector.
Makhosi Kunene
Chief Administrative Officer
Makhosi Kunene was appointed Chief Administrative Officer of Absa Capital in June 2008. A member of the Executive Committee, her department supports the development and implementation of strategic and operating plans in terms of infrastructure and ensures their alignment with the front office.
Hestie Loots
Chief Risk Officer
Hestie Loots was appointed Chief Risk Officer of Absa Capital in April 2008. She is a member of Absa Capital’s Executive Committee and is responsible for Risk Governance and Control, Market Risk, Asset and Liability Management, Investment Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk Management and Compliance.
Leslie Maasdorp
Non-Executive Vice-Chairman
Leslie Maasdorp was appointed Non-Executive Vice-Chairman of Absa Capital and Barclays Capital in October 2006. He has more than 17 years of experience in economic policy-making, is a skilled investment banker and has a long list of credentials for developing corporate strategies in the financial services sector.
Anton Millar
Investment Banking
Absa Capital's existing investment banking coverage business became known as Corporate Finance in June 2009. Anton was appointed to lead Corporate Finance prior to which he had led the Financing Solutions Group. He joined Absa Capital in February 2008 after seven years at Investec. Anton is now responsible for Corporate Finance and M&A at Absa Capital and has recently been tasked with seeking greater collaboration with the Corporate Bank through coordinated coverage.
Nyagaka Ongeri
Head of Global Finance & Risk Solutions
Nyagaka was appointed Head of Global Finance and Risk Solutions at Absa Capital in August 2009. He is responsible for five key areas of the business, namely: Global Loans; Debt Capital Markets; Equity Capital Markets; Risk Solutions Group; and Ratings Advisory Services. Prior to joining Absa Capital, Nyagaka was a managing director at Barclays Capital in New York within the Debt Capital Markets Group. He joined Barclays Capital in 2001 to focus on growing the firm's US presence in the financial institutions space.
Charles Russon
Chief Operating Officer
Charles Russon was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Absa Capital in October 2006. He has nearly 15 years of experience in various financial support roles for global markets businesses at some of the world’s premier investment banks. As a member of Absa Capital’s Executive Committee, he has a broad mandate that includes responsibility for all Chief Financial Officer functions, as well as Absa Capital’s operations and infrastructure. His extended portfolio covers IT, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Marketing & Communications, Strategy & Planning, Wealth and Africa.
